Building community through food

When we thought about reopening the historical farmstand, we thought about our immediate community, and how we can provide fresh, local, organic practice food to both our island neighbors, as well as the stream of visitors that pass by our farm daily. We just love meeting people over food. We give them a taste of what truly beautiful food is when harvested just that morning.

We decided against doing a fully unmanned farmstand because we want to connect with our community. The farmstand has a long history, the Humes opened the stand and sold their produce on Wednesdays. We’ve met many longtime locals who spent years coming by the farm to stock up on their favorites.

We’ve now added to our community of food lovers and growers by being Hosts for Warm Valley Farm Friends. We teach people how to grow their own food. Participants come two to three times a week to learn everything from soil to seed, to plants and produce. They then take home a generous share of the bountiful produce each week. Please consider joining us for next season!
